Kevin's paddlefishHi all and w elcome to our new newsletter,
A huge apology for the long delay in this latest newsletter, but there have been a lot of changes within the company over the last few months, new waters, new team members and new contacts around the world that has seen Paul and the team working flat out to make lake escapes a worldwide guided fishing organisation to rival all others.  As editor of the newsletter I will be grateful for any comments to do with any of our trips, either forthcoming or past trips you have either booked, been on, or are interested in, please just e- mail me at KMidmore@lakeescapes.co.uk.   Some huge catches and memorable fish have been reported both in Spain and in France over the past few weeks and details can be found on the site.  I would personally like to say a big hello to everyone, and look forward to a new challenge with Paul and the team in helping you catch that fish of your dreams.

Pauls Company News

Paul 181lb PB catfishFirstly I’m proud to announce a brand new tour for this year to Egypt; dates are now in place for early October. We believe that we have position ourselves as the front runner here for price and service. With all tours of 4 or more people will be Fully guided starting from Heathrow airport, this is the perfect trip for singles or double as we will find you fishing buddies, our tour guide will be your host on the trip and will join in with your holiday and generally be on hand, giving you complete peace of mind, check out the new tour on our main web site in early June.
With our French tour we have made massive changes, swims have been re-done, an eating lodge has been erected on place and with the fish averaging 25lb it still surly one of the premier venues for manic action in France. Well done to Kevin Hazeldon who is our current guide in France, on passing his Olympic coaching badges.
Spain has also seen big changes, with all new equipment now on place and the fish on our last trip averaging 90lb it just seems to be getting better and better, still with no one claiming their money back guarantee. Special offer are now in place for Spain please checkout the specials section of this newsletter and our Main Web site.
I’d also like to take this opportunity in welcoming Kevin Midmore to the team with his knowledge and passion for all types of angling he will be a great asset in helping develop more tours, he is also taking charge of the newsletter.
Lastly I would like to say a special thanks to two guides and friends who have now left the company Terry Griffin and Dave Proto, both guys leave with our best wishes and an open invitation to come back whenever they like..

LAKE PB NEWS FRANCE

EUROPEAN RECORD CAUGHT AT LAKE PB

Lake PB is as usual, still producing some very good fish to anglers visiting this beautiful water, none more so than a record breaking 38lb Pollyodon (paddle fish), to our very own new team member & guide K Midmore, he caught the unusual and extremely rare fish whilst on a trip to the lake with Paul, and our investigations so far show that this is most probably the only one of it's kind caught on a rod and line anywhere in Europe! Another reason to book as soon as possible to fish this lake.

See the paddlefish article for more information on the trip.

WITCH LAKE

Witch lake in Suffolk has been producing some awesome catches for those anglers visiting the venue with 50lb Sturgeon coming out almost daily. it is not a cheap day ticket venue by any means, but where else can you catch the extremely hard fighting Catfish, Carp and Sturgeon that this lake has to offer without travelling abroad?
Check out the articles section for a story of an amazing 24hr session.

SPAIN NEWS

Jan-May 2008
The guys in Spain reported back with a massive haul of fish over a two week period, resulting in just under 14,000 pounds of fish, All the guys on the trip had an amazing time, as Markyboy’s account of the 2nd week trip shows.

Well what a trip and experience

It all started when I was picked up from Zaragoza airport by Paul
Grothier and taken to the villa, On the way to the villa Paul was telling
us what had been caught the previous week and how we would be fishing, as
it was my 1st time to the Ebro.
Once we arrived at the Villa on the Saturday evening the first thing we
could see was the Ebro and that got the excitement going for the days
fishing on the Sunday, On the Saturday evening we unpacked and then
relaxed with a game of pool and a beer followed by dinner which was
prepared by Paul which was outstanding the whole week.
The time had come it was Sunday morning and we was up at 8am had our
breakfast and leaving to go to the Ebro by 9am, after a short drive
through the mountains we arrived at the River and what a sight it was, by
this time I just couldn’t wait to start fishing for the monster cats, We
started off by Paul and the other guide Matt showing us how to set up and
the way that we was going to fish, We set up 8 rods and Paul advised us
that its best of each 1 of us took turns in hitting the runs so that
every1 would get ago which the 6 of us thought was the best and fare way
to do it,   All rods where set and ready to go so we took 2 baits at a
time  down to the boat ( which was used for putting out the baits ) for
Paul and Matt to take out and drop them,  All 8 rods where now ready and
the excitement was very intense when within 20 mins 1 of the rods took
off and I was lucky #1 to hit and at 1st I thought I missed it but the
reel just started screaming and it was just the case of hanging on, after
A good fight it weighed in at 58lb which I was over the moon with as my
biggest catfish was 36lb, whilst I was playing that fish 2 other rods went
of and things started to go mad and my dad grabbed 1 of those rods and it
gave him a hell of a fight and after a long fight this massive head of a
catfish came up and we was all stunned at the size of the fish it weighed
 in at 159lb.
By now we had all had a fish each so it was my turn to hit the next rod
and it wasn’t long before that happened as one of the rods just bent over
and line was being taken so I hit into what seemed like a dead weight,  it
just kept taking line and I couldn’t do anything about it the feeling was
great and the adrenalin was pumping very fast, after another great fight
it was gloved by Matt and it was weighed which came in at 110lb my first
ever 100+ catfish which I have only ever dreamed of catching but I was
there with this very large catfish on my lap having my picture taken
needless to say I was over the moon, So its only the 1st day and I have
had a 100+ catfish what more could I ask for , all 6 of us had caught a
100+ catfish on the first day and I ended up with a total of 5 fish that
 day and 4 of them where 100+  ( 58lb,110lb,135lb,121lb,122lb ) what a
great start to a week on the Ebro.
The whole week was a great experience and the fishing was outstanding I
 had caught a total of 17 fish and they were Catfish - 58lb - 110lb -
 135lb - 121lb - 122lb - 10lb - 20lb - 135lb - 30lb - 105lb - 85lb - 50lb -
 50lb - 128lb - 70lb and I caught 2 Common Carp 40lb and 20lb and 14 of
those fish came in the 1st 3 days as on Wednesday the weather changed from hot to very windy and cold.
The guides Paul and Matt where outstanding they certainly no what they are
doing and there experience in fishing for these big cats helped us catch
many BIG fish, Paul cooked through out the whole week which was very good
indeed except Wednesday and Friday which they took us to the local town
For a Chinese which Paul recommended and it was spot on and on the Friday
we went bowling which was good, On Saturday Paul took us to Mequinenza
where its well known for its 200lb catfish to have a look around and find
out more on the Ebro, Paul and Matt where not only great guides but very
friendly and helpful through out the week they joined in with games of
pool and also had social chats with us which was great and I would wish to
thank them for a great week and I would 100% recommend this trip to any
one, I will definitely be booking up to go again
There was 6 people in my party and this is just my experience.

Thanks to Lake Escapes for a holiday of a life time
